Ever since I started my business in 2005, I have been sending email updates using plain ole' text emails but always wanted to send those cool emails with hyper link images and logos. Well, I found a cool company that does all the hard work for you. All you need to do is supply the text and the photos, fill in some fields, add you email list and viola! So, this afternoon, I'm sending my first pimped out newsletter.
Of course, as I get more comfortable, I will fine tune the process. But for any of you who will receive email newsletter 2.0, I would like to get some feedback!
On another note. I was on the bus last night coming back from the grocery store and was thinking really long and hard about my life. Where it was, where is is, and where it will be. If you would have asked me 5 years ago about where I would 5 years later, I would have never guessed the answer would be here.
"Here" is neither good nor bad -- it's just interesting. I was supposed to be an aerospace engineer (according to my dad) a chemical engineer (according to my mom) and was never supposed to even go near anything remotely artistic (according to both). You see, I come from a very strict family who believes that math and science is the end all say all. You can do whatever you want as long as those two things come first. I've always struggled with that. I've always held a desire in my heart for the artistic, but never felt comfortable exploring it for a fear of being viewed as unsubstantial. However, my parents and I have come to an arrangement of sorts. As long as I get my PhD in economics, I can pursue the business.
So, the question is, am I happy?
Yes, and hell yes.
For me, happiness is defined by what I can do. A PhD in economics will give me a set of quantitatively critical skills to dissect the world I am in. My craft will give me a set of skills that will allow me to appreciate the colors and textures of my landscape.
